Bark and Rocks

This piece consists of bark and some rocks I have gathered and then scanned onto the computer, and then transferred. I love the intricate detail, patterns, and shapes that are within these objects and how they were enhanced through the scanning process. I had no concept in mind when starting this, I just wanted to see what would become of it as I used these objects that really fascinate me.

  1. I find this idea and process very interesting. I like that you have experimented with the materials to find the patterns and details within them.I like that they look like a study of the material. Are these part of the obsession theme or something else? Was the composition just as spontaneous as the objects themselves?

  2. Oh! Scanning the actual objects is intriguing and brings more concepts to the table... Although you had no original concepts in mind for these pieces, I would suggest researching and taking a closer look at what concepts could surface through this experiment.

  3. The image is surprisingly compelling given the subject matter and seemingly arbitrary arrangement. but I am most interested in the process of creation: an openess to experiment, which is usually a form of trust in your subconscious intentions and a confidence in the process.

  4. At first glance it look almost like a charcoal and water painting/drawing and I find it fascinating that the colors have been blown out into a gray scale. It's very fun, and I would definitely like to see more natural objects to see what becomes of them when scanned.
